For the 5th consecutive year, ALFA managed by Orascom Telecom launched the "SMS 4-life" campaign for the benefit of the Lebanese Autism Society (LAS) from the 21st of July till the 8th of August 2011. An amount of 15.000$ was raised during the campaign and was remitted to LAS on November 14th, 2011.

Your Day Away™ is a not-for-profit event to allow for one day out of the year when parents or guardians with children with Autism can get away from their daily routines and enjoy the recreational, cultural, health & wellness, and gastronomical opportunities available in their local communities.

National Autism Awareness Campaign 2011
A press conference was held in the Ministry of Social Affairs premises on Tuesday September 27th, 2011 at 10am,
to launch the National Autism Awareness Campaign.

The National Autism Awareness Campaign is organized
by the Coordination Committee for Autism in Lebanon,
in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Under the high patronage and in presence of His Excellency the Minister of Social Affairs, Wael Abou Faour, and within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility Program, “Alfa 4-Life”, Alfa, the first mobile operator managed by Orascom Telecom, organized an art exhibition for a creative young artist from the Lebanese Autism Society (LAS),
Ali Tlais” at the Mark Hachem Gallery in Downtown Beirut,
on Wednesday, the 20th of July 2011.

This Exhibition under the name of “Internal World and Creative Autism” took place in the presence of the Representative of H.E, the Minister of Telecommunications Nicolas Sehnaoui, Mr. Rami Majzoub, French Ambassador Denis Pietton, Belgian Ambassador Johan Verkammen, and the Canadian Ambassador Hilary Childs-Adams, former Minister and current MP Ghazi Zeaiter, in addition to artists Ghassan Saliba, Ghadi Rahbani, Ahmad Kaabour, media personality, Abd Al Ghani Tlais, Alfa management and team, figures from the civil society, with other stakeholders. World Autism Awareness Day WAAD

On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day celebrated and recognized by the United Nations in 2007 on the 2nd of April, the Lebanese Autism Society is planning a range of activities to raise awareness about Autism:

A seminar at the Parliament under the patronage of President Nabih Berri

Taking place on 12th April, 2011, will be organized by the Autism Committee in Lebanon which includes about 20 associations and institutions dealing with Autism; and LAS being the General Coordinator for this committee.

2. Light It Up In Blue - LIUB International Campaign

During which the largest countries in the world participate by lighting in blue the largest buildings like (Empire State Building, Rockefeller, NY), on the 1st and 2nd of April.
As for Lebanon, Mrs. Ghada Makhoul contacted and briefed Habtoor Hotel and Beirut Municipality which agreed to participate by lighting their buildings in blue on the 1st and 2nd of April 2011. Read More

3. Activities in the American University of Beirut (AUB)

AUB students of the Red Cross Club and Special Olympic are organizing activities and games for children with Autism on the 2nd April, 2011, from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm in Green football field at AUB.
The LAS’ Parents Committee will participate at the “ Volunteering Fair 2011 “ organized by the AUB Center of Civil Engagement & Community Services (CCECS) on the 27th & 28th of April 2011 from 10 am till 4pm .
Several workshops have followed, among them a workshop about Autism.

4. Edification at the Lebanese American University LAU

UNESCO CLUB at LAU is organizing an activity to raise awareness (Edification) about Autism on the 18th and 19th April, 2011 at the University campus.

ABC event for LAS during December 2010

Buy a "Small Bear with a Big Heart" in any of the ABC branches, to help Christmas Bear tree grow bigger and bigger for Christmas time and raise funds for a human cause.

ABC collected funds from the sale of 2362 bears during Christmas 2010 season, at ABC branches, in favor of the Lebanese Autism Society.

Mr Robert Fadel, President and General Manager of ABC remitted the check to LAS President, Mrs Arwa el-Amine Halawi, in the presence of LAS Board of trustees and members.

The Arab Network for Autism was launched from the Second Arab Regional Conference on Autism “Early Detection, Early Diagnosis” that was organized by the UNESCO Regional Office for Education in Beirut, in co-operation with the Lebanese Autism Society (L.A.S) and the National Committee for Autism in Lebanon, on the 7th and 8th of October 2008.

The 2nd Arab Regional Conference on Autism - October 2008

Under the High Patronage of the First Lady Mrs. Wafaa Michel Sleiman The UNESCO Regional Office in Beirut in collaboration with the Lebanese Autism Society and the Autism Coordination Committee in Lebanon, have organized its Second Arab Regional Conference on Autism: Early Detection, Early Diagnosis, on the 7th and 8th of October 2008, in Crowne Plaza- Beirut.

alfa 4life SMS campaign raised 7,500$ to L.A.S During the month of October 2007, alfa, the leading company ofTelecommunications in Lebanon, has raised 7,500 US.Dollars through its wide "alfa 4life" SMS campaign, in favor of the Lebanese Autism Society.
(A one Dollar (1$) was donated to the Lebanese Autism Society, by each reply to this SMS.) The check of 7,500$ was remitted on November 23rd 2007 to the Lebanese Autism Society by alfa CEO Mrs Ineke Botter.
